Growing in up in Coventry, England I couldn’t decide if I wanted to be a fireman or a teacher. However, this all changed during my 10th Grade work experience placement at my old primary school. It was here that my career was decided and with that a passion for teaching was sparked. When I think back to the choice I made, it was the right one given what it has enabled to experience and accomplish.

I obtained my undergraduate certificate in Early Childhood Studies at Warwick University before completing my PGCE in 2008. From here, I taught in a variety of schools back home and spent some years travelling through South East Asia, Brazil and Australia.

During one of my extended stays at home, I was lucky enough to meet another teacher called Rebecca who, after 8 years of being together, is now my wife. We have both been very fortunate to travel around the world together and we have had quite a few adventures too.

This is my first year at BIS Abu Dhabi and I am enjoying the experience of my second Nord Anglia school having spent three years at BIS Washington D.C.

When people ask me ‘What’s the best thing about teaching?’, it’s almost impossible to pinpoint. However, my go to answer is ‘the children’. They hold no fear, just want to have fun and have all the enthusiasm and excitement needed to make everyday special.
