When Safa got her results she said, “I was very relieved but was not expecting it at all.”

Safa’s sister Hagir also graduated from BIS Abu Dhabi last year with full marks in the IB Diploma Programme, so Safa had huge steps to fill but she managed to not let the pressure burden her and as a result, achieved her dream.

Safa has decided to follow the family tradition and study medicine and she will be joining her sister Hagir in Dubai to study at the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU). Safa really wanted to stay in the UAE and as MBRU is a rapidly developing establishment in the centre of various world-renowned medical institutions, it is the perfect place for her to join Hagir and begin her journey to become a doctor. Safa is really looking forward to the change in lifestyle that Dubai has to offer.

Completing the IB Diploma Programme was beneficial to Safa in achieving her place at MBRU. “Completing the IB Diploma taught me a lot about life balance, but whilst still making sure I worked hard. I completed a lot of extracurricular activities for the Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) element of the Programme that supported my application and made me stand out from the crowd. I also learned important writing skills from completing essays and internal assessments which I know will be essential during my time at university.”

During her educational journey at BIS Abu Dhabi, Safa was an outstanding student, and she will not be forgotten. One of her final CAS projects was an International Cookbook that she put together with fellow students and sold to raise money for charity.

One of Safa’s favourite memories from school was the day of her graduation photos, it was the first time the realisation hit her that she was finishing school forever and she felt incredibly happy.

When asked what she will miss most about BIS Abu Dhabi, Safa said: “I will miss seeing familiar faces, teachers and friends alike. And the cardamom tea! Ms. Shelly was always so kind. I want to thank everyone at the school for helping me grow during my time at the school, I wish it every success in the future.”

Safa will for sure be an amazing student at MBRU, just as she has been at BIS Abu Dhabi. Congratulations, Safa!
