Community Profile: Lucy Want
Each week we will feature a member of our community across all areas of the school including students, teachers, parents, support staff and more, to get to know members of our family a little better. If you would like to be featured, please email: newsletters@bisad.ae.
Name and a little bit about you:
My name is Lucy Want, and I am a Music teacher at BIS Abu Dhabi. As a musician I play the trumpet and piano and have spent time performing in several ensembles including Musical Theatre productions, concerts, and competitions. I also have a huge interest in Motorsport, having driven a few super car experiences, so I am very excited for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix!

Where is “home” for you?
I have recently moved from the UK, in a county called Bedfordshire, which is close to London. Bedfordshire has some beautiful scenery, golden fields and sunsets and many wonderful places where I love to spend my time.

What do you do in Abu Dhabi?
I teach Secondary music at BIS Abu Dhabi, and I am also looking forward to working with students within the CCA opportunities, including the school production, which we are super excited about!

What brought you to Abu Dhabi?
I chose to move to Abu Dhabi because I loved the idea of travelling and working in a different country, getting a chance to meet new people, visit new places and use this experience within my musical teaching. Abu Dhabi is a place full of life, culture and beauty and a place I'm so lucky to live.

Tell us something that few people know about you:
I used to work at a Safari Park as a High Ropes instructor, so regularly turned up to work to the sound of sealions!

What is your favourite thing about being a part of the BIS Abu Dhabi community?
My favourite thing about BIS Abu Dhabi is the community feel and the feeling of kindness and support within the school. The school has such a buzz of excitement every day and staff and students have a real love for the school. BIS Abu Dhabi is a place where students can flourish as they grow in confidence and have a genuine love of learning.

What tips or advice would you give to new families joining BIS Abu Dhabi?
Enjoy every moment and grab every opportunity! Everyone at BIS Abu Dhabi is so lovely and supportive and within just days, you will feel at home. And bring Suncream!

What do you enjoy most about living in Abu Dhabi?
The friendly culture, making memories with such lovely people and meeting lots of new people along the way. I also enjoy the opportunities to experience so many different activities, places, and new adventures.
