Students not in Year 11 or Year 13 may have enjoyed a long holiday but they are now back at school and should begin planning their revision for the end of year exams.
In term II, BIS Hanoi's intrepid Biology & Geography students from Year 12 made the short journey to Ba Vi national park to soak up the sunshine and learn some valuable skills out in the 'field'.
The Whole School Science Assembly took place this morning and was led by the Secondary Science Department to mark the end of British Science Week 2018.
Today, it was wonderful to assemble together the students from Year 9 to 13 in order to celebrate the success of our Cambridge IGCSE learners. We heard the admissions’ tutors from the outstanding universities of MIT and Penn State explain why they admire the Cambridge qualifications, that BIS Hanoi students present for.
We have been back just over a week and our Year 13 students are beginning to realise the size of the challenge that faces the final year IBDP student. Students are making improvements to their extended essay prior to feedback from their personal tutors. The extended essay is an essential part of the IB. It is a 4,000 word piece of extended writing based on independent research. Students must achieve a passing grade for their extended essay (grade D or above) or they will fail their diploma.
Australia, Bratislava, California, Dubai...an alphabet of places rolled off the tongues of our returning students, as they told us stories about their summer holidays and home countries, but there was a common theme- our BIS Hanoi community are delighted to be home in beautiful Vietnam.
I began the year promising to share with you our wonderful stories, as they emerged from BIS Hanoi. I hope that you felt the energy, joy and passion behind each one. It has been an extraordinary year on many levels. We have welcomed to the school, children and families from over twenty different countries around the world and they have enriched our lives. The children have been inspired by many new teachers and they and the returning teachers delivered incredible success in the sports arena, the musical theatre and our classrooms.
Next week is going to be an important one for all of our British International School Hanoi students. All students in the school will be presenting for either internal or external exams. There will be lots of revision sessions taking place this weekend but students need to keep a sense of perspective and manage their wellbeing, too.
The British International School' students, who performed at the National Academy of Music, were so accomplished that they looked perfectly comfortable performing alongside our professional guests
