Another great year at BIS Hanoi
Another great year at BIS Hanoi I began the year promising to share with you our wonderful stories, as they emerged from BIS Hanoi. I hope that you felt the energy, joy and passion behind each one. It has been an extraordinary year on many levels. We have welcomed to the school, children and families from over twenty different countries around the world and they have enriched our lives. The children have been inspired by many new teachers and they and the returning teachers delivered incredible success in the sports arena, the musical theatre and our classrooms.

I began the year promising to share with you our wonderful stories, as they emerged from BIS Hanoi.

Occasionally, I have shared with you the names of individual students whose learning, service, achievement or perspective illustrates the culture we are developing at BIS Hanoi. The story of Ha Minh, in Year 9, is a case in point. She recently visited Stratford -  Upon - Avon - the home of Shakespeare - with her family, where they enjoyed a medley of Shakespeare’s plays. Ha Minh was able to identify the famous speeches from Macbeth and Hamlet because her BIS Hanoi English lessons had introduced her to them. She was then able to share her learning with her cousins, helping them to understand the challenging language.

More often, I have written about events that have involved the whole community. Last night’s prom was the penultimate student event of the year and it was a fitting finale. It was student led, spectacular, creative and fun. The ‘Beauty and the BIS’ theme brought out the very best in our kids, as they danced the night away to a range of live music. Our students are a special group of young people and it has been a privilege to see them develop and grow over the course of the year.

We have just one event left to enjoy and that is the Principal’s Award. It will be Mr Rowlands’ final ceremony. When he reflects on this year, and his time as our Principal, I am sure he will be joyful. He was the founding Principal of our wonderful British International School, Hanoi. I wish Mr Rowlands luck in his new role. I hope that the teachers, who have left us, will find new schools that are as good as ours. I wish the same for students and families, who have had to leave Hanoi at the end of this academic year. Finally, I wish everyone a restful and an enjoyable holiday. Thank you for making it another great year at BIS Hanoi.
