Varsity Girls Volleyball (Ms Fairburn)

Communication, diving for the ball, and Jenny running across the court to ensure the ball didn’t touch the court, were three highlights of the BIS Hanoi women’s game against Concordia International School.  Despite the hometown crowd that was sometimes deafening our students maintained their composure and stayed positive throughout showing their perseverance and caring attitudes. Come on out and support the girls this Friday against St Paul’s American School at BIS. Let’s show them what Lionhearts are made of!

Player of the match goes to Misha whose net play showed her understanding of the game, and intimidated CISH’s hitters.

Varisty Boys Volleyball  (Ms Airdrie)

In the Varsity Boys Volleyball league, BIS is going from strength to strength. They beat Concordia yesterday afternoon in a 2 set match. This Friday they will be playing against St Paul’s. If they win their match they will be able to represent BIS in the HAC finals on Wednesday 21 September. Come support the players this Friday after school.
Player of the match – Nhat Nam VO

Middle School Girls Basketball (Mrs Wild)

A strong sense of teamwork, developed significantly over the course of the game led to a stunning 24 -13 victory for the BIS girls over BVIS last night. The girls worked extremely hard – demonstrating solid defending and a fast break which turned out to be a real threat to our opposition.

Player of the match goes to Jess Lee who dominated the game – scoring 14 of the BIS points and demonstrating a strong sense of leadership, guiding the rest of the students throughout the match.

Middle School Boys Basketball (Mr Langford)

BIS Middle School Lionhearts Basketball team struck back with revenge after losing their opening game of the season against Concordia 18-6. BIS Lionhearts faced a well drilled BVIS team but took control in the final quarter to win 13-8. Huy Anh Bui was the star performer scoring the most points for the team but a notable mention to Lam Phuc Thach who also had an excellent game. Mr Langford was particularly pleased with the team’s performance saying ‘It is great to see the development of the team after the opening game of the season. It is even more encouraging that the team is performing so well as the squad has a balance of year 9 and year 7 players. The players showed great perseverance throughout the match as BVIS were a very good team and pushed BIS to the last minute of the game. I am looking forward to seeing how far this team will go’.
