Lionhearts Live Life to the Fullest

That school spirit was celebrated in today’s assembly, which was led by Mrs Airdrie. Dedicated to a  review of our sporting year, it was a reminder of how well we have performed on the local and international stage.  Our students have won more medals than ever before at the FOBISIA (Federation of British International Schools in Asia) sporting events.  At various times, we have dominated swimming, football and athletics.  We have also been more competitive in basketball.

Year 9 BIS Hanoi Students Take Action

Our Year 9 students have been busy connecting with local charities.  They presented their work on Thursday afternoon to teachers, students and parents.  The students displayed care and perseverance in identifying appropriate causes.  As a result of the students’ efforts several local organisations will benefit from a higher profile in the future.  These organisations include: SOS Village, Children of Peace, AnimalsAsia and Hue Help.

Time is valuable; life is precious

A common theme of the events I have attended this week has been the high value the BIS Hanoi community places on life. Mrs Airdrie’s message inspired students to make their mark in any field of life. The Year 9 students demonstrated a determination to help others to enjoy a more comfortable and enriching life. It is a theme that clearly resonates with our students. It was central to the extraordinary speech delivered by our Year 13 Valedictorian, Hanh Tien, at last Saturday’s graduation. She gave such a wise speech that reminded us all of the importance of using our time productively. I’d like to end this week’s hub piece and leave you with just one of her beautifully expressed thoughts:

“Whether or not the IB Diploma was designed to be enjoyable is a topic open for debate, but what I’m trying to say is that the passing of time matters not as much as what you do with it.
And if I had learned one thing from the past 2 years, it is that Time always gives before it takes.
That you never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.
And so that is my wish for you, to make memories and to live life to the fullest.” Hanh Tien (Emily), Year 13.
