Thank you to BIS and to Mr. Kevin because in the past 3 years visiting BIS, our children have become more confident, more mature and well-communicated.

Our community partner Hy Vong School have been continuing their regular weekly visits with Year 6. Both sets of students have enjoyed working together on science projects, making crazy putty and rainbow water jars.

The next task is to promote wellbeing, together they will be producing art displays which Hy Vong can take back to decorate their school.

Here are some of our reflections:

Ms. Dung (Teaching Assistant): “This community project gives the best opportunity to both BIS students and HY Vong students, so they can communicate, and learn from each other".

Year 6 students Do Yeon and An Nhien: “At first we feel sorry for them because they are deaf and can’t hear. Then we see they enjoy art and one girl in particular from Hy Vong is very talented, really good at painting".

Ms. Crombie (Primary Teacher): "I cannot believe how much laughter there was, it is amazing to have the children visiting from Hy Vong and see both sets of children playing and working together".

Regular visits will continue throughout the year, we also hope to invite the children of Hy Vong School to our Tet Assembly.  Their confidence has grown so much that they may even perform on stage.

The Hy Vong school visits are just one of many different Community outreach partnerships that we have at BIS, each are intended to give our students, and students from other schools and charities, the opportunity to meet and collaborate with people from different backgrounds and to give them a well-rounded understanding of the world around them.
