Weekly update from Head of Secondary

Dear Parents,

It is my pleasure to welcome you all back to school after a two-week Christmas break. It is wonderful to see students and staff together again on campus.

This is an unusually busy two-week period. Between now and the Lunar New Year break, we will be running mock examinations for Year 11 and 13 students. In addition, other year levels will be embarking on their annual residential trip.

The mock examinations are an important opportunity for our students to practice and apply knowledge and skills in a controlled trial environment. In the past few years, we have run trial exams in an online environment. Therefore, we are very pleased that this year we were able to run the mock exam series in a way that closely mimics the conditions that students will face at year's end. The feedback that teachers provide will enable students to take the next step in their learning progress in those subjects. Thank you to all the teachers and administrators involved in setting up the examinations; it is a sizable task.

Similarly, planning the residential trips has been an enormous task, and let me take this opportunity to thank the year leaders and trip coordinators for their support in organizing all the different elements required to facilitate a residential trip. We are very excited by the trips and activities on offer for students this year. We know that students gain an enormous amount of confidence from residential trips and come away more closely bonded with their peers. We wish all those attending residential trips all the best for a fun and challenging week away.

• 1st February: School Resumes after the Tet Holiday
