Dear Parents,

Congratulations on a remarkable start to the academic school year! The positive energy and enthusiasm that fill our hallways are a testament to the strong sense of belonging that defines our community.

As we settle into our routines, let us acknowledge the importance of structure and consistency in fostering effective learning. By establishing daily rituals and habits, we create an environment where focus and engagement thrive.

I would like to extend my deepest appreciation to our dedicated teachers, whose commitment and hard work lay the foundation for our students' success. Their passion for education and tireless efforts are truly inspiring.

Parent welcome Evening

It is my pleasure to invite you to the Secondary Welcome Evening on Wednesday 30th August 2023, 4.15- 6.35pm. The purpose of the event is to learn more about the Secondary School curriculum and the teaching and learning philosophy that underpins it. It is also a chance for you to meet your child’s teachers, Heads of Department, and the Secondary School leaders.

During this evening you will receive information about our broad curriculum offer, experience a workshop which supports your child’s first language development, and be able to tour the Secondary School classrooms.

The format for the evening is as follows:

Welcome Event
4.15-4:40pm	Main Presentation Welcome from Secondary Leadership - Curriculum Overview - Assessment Approaches - Teaching & Learning	Mr Taylor- Years 7-9 Ms Miller- Years 10-11 Ms Archer- Years 12-13
4.45-5.15pm	First Language Workshop An interactive session to understand First Language learners and the importance of reading.	Ms Hai- Vietnamese Ms Song & Ms An- Korean Ms Klar - Japanese Mr Hoare- remaining languages
5.15-6.35pm	Explore our Secondary Curriculum A guided tour of the subjects on offer. Experience first-hand what a lesson looks like at BIS Hanoi.	All subject teachers will be available for this part of the evening.

Please note:

This evening is not for individual concerns to be addressed. If you have questions of a personal nature, please contact Secondary Office, who will direct your communication to the correct place (secondaryoffice@bishanoi.com).
Vietnamese and Korean translators will be available on the evening to assist where necessary.
While the event is focused on parents, students are also welcome to attend.
The information slides will be translated into Vietnamese and Korean and sent out after the event.
To gain entry to the site, please bring your parent ID card and lanyard, or you may register on arrival.
