Ages 2 TO 5

At BIS HCMC, our youngest students play to learn – and learn to play – on our purpose-built Early Years and Infant Campus. Awe-inspiring experiences spark our youngest learners’ creativity and curiosity, igniting a love of discovery and exploration, and laying strong foundations for the future.

Our EYFS Curriculum

Our Pre-Nursery, Nursery, and Reception children follow the English Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum. At this formative stage in their education, our teachers will guide your child through seven key learning and development areas:
  • Communication and language.
  • Physical development.
  • Personal, social, and emotional development.
  • Literacy.
  • Maths.
  • Understanding the world.
  • Expressive arts and design.

Playing to learn – and learning to play

Our youngest children progress in the seven EYFS areas by playing and exploring, getting active, and taking part in activities that get them thinking creatively. Every day is packed with tailored learning experiences that inspire a sense wonder and ignite our students’ imaginations. Our bespoke timetable includes long periods of uninterrupted play, enabling our students to learn new skills, develop their knowledge, and demonstrate understanding.

Adapting learning to your child’s needs

At BIS HCMC, we treat every child as an individual. Learning is tailored to each student’s preferences, strengths, and areas for growth. We’ll focus on how your child learns best, planning personalised, engaging, and inspiring experiences that help them to meet important developmental milestones.

Our purpose-built campus

Our warm and welcoming Early Years and Infant Campus is the perfect place to learn. Our splash pool, sensory walkways, rooftop garden, dedicated outdoor spaces, and playgrounds with climbing apparatus give our children the freedom to grow and explore. And as they grow in confidence, we encourage them to use other facilities within the school, including our large library, music rooms, DREAMS lab, and more.

The Right Honourable Lord Puttnam of Queensgate, who officially opened our campus in 2018, described our early years spaces as: “The finest teaching and learning environment I have ever experienced in my life, and I’ve been around the world many, many times.”

Caring for your child

We know that children learn best when they’re happy. Our campus is a safe and nurturing environment where your child will explore, challenge themselves, and go on adventures. We teach our children about risks and safety, how to make good choices and to respect boundaries. We also pack every day with stimulating activities that nurture a lifelong love of learning.

The world’s best teachers

Our highly qualified, British-trained early years teachers are fully invested in your child’s growth. Here, our teachers come up with extraordinary ways to learn including new and unique activities that support their personal, social, emotional, and physical growth. Engaging activities nurture the development of your child’s communication skills, as well as creative art, music, and language sessions.

Supported by our amazing team of teaching assistants, your child will devise their own ideas for play, too. Our teachers get to know what your child is interested in and observe how they learn. In everything they do, our staff empower our students to take the lead.

Our relationship with you

We’ll make sure you’re fully involved in your child’s learning. You’ll keep up with your child’s progress through our online learning journal, Seesaw, which includes weekly photos, videos, and written updates. You’ll also be invited to get-togethers throughout the year, including coffee mornings, student celebrations, assemblies, and activity days. As a BIS HCMC parent, you will become part of our active parent-teacher group and our close-knit community.

Your child will flourish at BIS HCMC, where our all-encompassing approach to education balances academic excellence with personal growth and wellbeing, inspiring a lifelong love of learning.
