Our 2022 graduates destinations
Our class of 2022 secured places at prestigious universities across the world. Around 37% of our students who applied to undergraduate courses are taking up places in QS top 50 universities, while 51% are heading to one of the planet's top 100 institutions.
The United Kingdom and Europe
The UK was our students' second most popular destination. BIS HCMC students accepted places at the University of Cambridge, Imperial College London, and University College London (UCL), which are all in the world's top 10 universities. Others will be attending the London School of Economics and Political Science, King’s College London, the University of Edinburgh, and the University of Manchester, all ranked in the top 100.
Some of our students gained places at world-leading universities in Europe. These included KU Leuven in Belgium and Trinity College, Dublin (both in the world's top 100). Places were also taken up at Maastricht University and Erasmus University in the Netherlands, Copenhagen School of Business in Denmark, and IE University in Madrid, Spain.
The United States of America and Canada
The number of students attending universities and colleges in the USA was higher this year than in 2021, accounting for about 1 in 4 of our graduates. BIS HCMC students accepted places at three Ivy League institutions: Yale University, Cornell University, and the University of Pennsylvania. Places were also secured at New York University (QS top 40), the University of Wisconsin Madison, and Pennsylvania State University (both in the QS top 100), as well as Purdue University, Boston University, Fordham University, Northeastern University, UC San Diego, and the University of Southern California.
It's worth noting that, as with other cycles, many students were accepted by prestigious institutions in the USA but decided to pursue undergraduate study elsewhere. The number of students applying for universities in Canada also increased in 2022, with students accepting places at the University of Toronto and the University of British Columbia – both of which are in the QS top 50. Places were also taken up at McMaster University and Dalhousie University. Of these four destinations, the University of Toronto was by far the most popular, with six students heading to Canada’s number one university.
Asia
In Asia, Singapore and South Korea continue to be popular destinations. Our students secured places at both Nanyang Technological University and Singapore National University (both in the world's top 20). Students received offers from Seoul National University and KAIST, too. We fully expect to add Korea University, Yonsei, and Sungkyunkwan University to our list soon. Our students were also accepted by top universities across Asia, including the University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in Japan (the University of Tokyo and Osaka University), and RMIT in Vietnam.
Australia and New Zealand
Australia is always a popular destination for our students, and the class of 2022 was no exception, with around 14% of students applying for universities in Australia and New Zealand. Students gained places at the University of Melbourne and the University of Sydney (both in the world's top 50), and Monash University, which is in the QS top 100.
Subject choices
Our class of 2022 chose to study a wide range of subjects, including medicine, law, engineering, economics, and business. Students are also pursuing courses in neuroscience, psychology, pathobiology, biomedical sciences, computer science, fashion design, design art, architecture, accountancy, physics, linguistics, politics, international relations, music, sound production, drama and applied theatre, and animation, among others. This diverse range of pathways is evidence of the multitude of options available to IBDP students, as well as a great indication of the diverse aspirations of our student body.
