As part of Nord Anglia Education’s collaboration with UNICEF, selected student ambassadors will visit New York from 6-13 July for the NAE–UNICEF Student Summit regarding the United Nation’s Global Goals for Sustainable Development.
On Saturday 23rd June, 40 members of BIS HCMC's community, including students, parents and teachers from across our 3 campuses, set out to clean up Thao Dien.
On Friday 15th June BIS HCMC Secondary hosted its first Sports Awards Ceremony. This was a night of celebration and joyful reflection, highlighting the success of the students, coaches and teams that represented BIS at home and abroad this academic year.
Early on Saturday the 16th of June, 19 students across different year groups and 3 teachers had yet another unforgettable experience at Ky Quang Pagoda. Greeted with warmth, we planned engaging, fun activities with the children including our first-ever dance and singing performance as well as games, cuddling and arts and crafts.
On Monday 11th June we were delighted to share with the local community the hard work of 4 year 13 BIS HCMC artists who have recently completed their International Baccalaureate Visual Arts course.
As part of our collaboration with the world’s leading performing arts institute; The Juilliard School we will be welcoming Juilliard alumni Jason Crimi to BIS HCMC on Tuesday 26th June. Jason will be performing for both our Primary and Secondary school students and we will be holding a Community Concert from 6:30pm in the Secondary Campus auditorium.
Today we welcomed back to school 40 Year 5 and 6 athletes that represented our school this past week at the FOBISIA Primary Games in Phuket Thailand. I have been keeping up to date with their progress on Twitter and it has been wonderful to see their hard work and effort over the last 2 terms pay off as the medal count increased day by day.
On Saturday 26th May, 72 Year 13 students came together with over 400 of their teachers, family members and friends to celebrate their Graduation at the Park Hyatt, Saigon. It was a special ceremony filled with an array of emotions; great excitement for what lies ahead for our graduating Class of 2018, tinged with some sadness as we said our fond farewells.
This week Dr Angie Wigford ran 3 workshops on how a child’s brain develops. This then led onto a discussion on how important playfulness, acceptance, curiosity and empathy were in developing resilience.
The Science team and students at BIS HCMC Secondary Campus are looking forward to welcoming the new Year 7 students in August 2018. Our teachers are constantly striving to ensure the Year 6 students from the Junior Campus have a smooth transition into Year 7. To this end, they have created a unique transition programme within Science.
From 2013-2015, Lara Wilkinson was a primary PE teacher here at the British International School, Ho Chi Minh City. Since leaving Vietnam to go back to the UK, Lara has combined her passion for hockey with a charity close to her heart; Help for Heroes. On the morning of Thursday the 17th of May, Ms Husband, Mr Alexander and 10 of our Key Stage 3 musicians left school at 6.30am to make their way to the airport for their flight to Jakarta, Indonesia to attend the FOBISIA Music Intermediate Festival 2018. This month saw the annual IRONMAN 70.3 Vietnam race return to the beautiful coastal city of Da Nang with more than 1,600 people from 56 countries and territories fighting for a podium position. Amongst the thousands who turned up to compete in these races were teachers, students and parents from BIS HCMC, ready to show Da Nang what they’re made of!
