Mr Sean O'Neill: Weekly Update 09/04/2021
One of the highlights of the school year took place this week as we held our IB Visual Arts Exhibition 2021. This year’s was perhaps the most striking exhibition in BIS history. As I walked up the stairs of the exhibition venue, it was a breathtaking experience to be met by such a wonderful collection of pieces, curated so thoughtfully. It has been said that “A work of art is never completed, it is merely abandoned”- it was moving to see our students abandon their work to public view with such thought and courage - taking pride in the hundreds of hours of deliberate practice and refinement that enabled them to arrive at that moment. My congratulations to each of them on such a significant achievement and thanks to all for making it such a well attended event

Mr Sean O'Neill: Weekly Update 30/10/2020
Dear Parents,
In her essay, “The Pandemic is a Portal”, Indian novelist, Arundhati Roy, invites us to see the current moment as a turning point in history, as a moment of change, she writes:
“Coronavirus has brought the world to a halt like nothing else could. Our minds are still racing back and forth, longing for a return to normality,
Refusing to acknowledge the rupture, but the rupture exists, and in the midst of this terrible despair, it gives us a chance to rethink.
Nothing could be worse than a return to normality.
Historically, pandemics have forced humans to break with their past and imagine their world anew. This one is no different. It is a portal. A gateway between one world and the next.”

Mr Sean O'Neill: Weekly Update 23/10/2020
Dear Parents and students,
We are extremely fortunate to be able to make our home in this wonderful country. As guests in Vietnam we know how lucky we are to be part of such a warm and vibrant community.
As central Vietnam is experiencing the devastating impact of severe flooding, it is good that our BIS community can play a small part in the current relief efforts and show our solidarity with our hosts. Please find in this week’s update more information from our Community Coordinator, Mrs Tracey Brownrigg about how we are working with our community partners at this time. Thank you to all of our students, parents, teachers and support staff for your generous contributions.
