Our new Prefect Team are now a full term into their posts and thoroughly getting involved in all aspects of the role. At the beginning of March they attended a peer led training session that was designed to expand their skill set.

On Saturday 11th March they were given the opportunity to develop their teamwork and leadership skills through a series of activities run by the Sixth Form and Head Student Teams. From being blindfolded and led through a maze to develop communication skills, to roleplaying difficult situations, our Prefects were put through their paces and given plenty to discuss and think about. They also reviewed their character strengths and talked about the potential pitfalls that leaders may face if they ignore these in themselves and in their team. Finally, Design Thinking was used as a tool to provide solutions for issues they may face within their role.

“We discovered new effective methods such as the Design Thinking method to initiate ideas within the school”

“The VIA character strength [activity] allowed us to discuss with people who had similar strengths (and hence weaknesses that come along with those strengths) about how to face certain situations and how to think more of our how we react, decide and interact with others”

“The leadership role play was a very fascinating activity - it allow[ed] us to step into the shoes of the character we are suppose represent, and...to think critically of how you would manage a similar situation.”

Following this training 7 students were invited to be interviewed for the role of Head Student, taking over from our current team of Haeon Yoon (Head Girl), Steven Vo (Head Boy), Steve Ko (Deputy Head Boy) and Saanya Mishra (Deputy Head Girl), who will be starting their examinations shortly after the Easter break. The outgoing team have been a driving force for change within the school, promoting developments in areas ranging from the food provided in the canteen to an update of the school uniform from 2017/18. We’re really proud of what they have achieved and are sure that the new team will take on the challenge of following in their footsteps with enthusiasm!

We are delighted to announce our new team of four Head Students as:
