Our job was to design and then construct games which were fun, but had a mathematical focus. The next job was to then write instructions for the game, have the instructions translated into Vietnamese and lead the small group session with our new friends. This week it was the pleasurable job of 5S and 5V to show off our projects. 5N and 5H look forward to their visit next week!
Here at BIS HCMC, we take our community service commitment very seriously and believe that we are but a small part of our wider community. The connections made with our partner schools go a long way towards creating a feel of collegiality with a goal of creating better educational outcomes for all involved.
Poussières De Vie is a non-government organisation (NGO) that helps Vietnam’s disadvantaged people through a variety of projects in HCMC and Kontum province. PDV works in a long term, sustainable way to provide education to disadvantaged children in Vietnam – teaching them a trade and transferable skills. Like many of our other partners, the children from projects based in HCMC, come from families who have migrated from rural areas to the city for a better life. The children are unable to go to government school for different reasons. Some children do not have the right paperwork (birth certificate, parent ID, area registration cards) and others need to work to support their families.
