When the children in Year 1 and 2 were told that a super hero was visiting, they guessed the obvious names such as: Batman, Superman, Mr Simon, Mr Ian…. However, today they were introduced to a new super hero - ‘Super Cycling Man’!

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s Super Cycling Man!

Cycling in to the hall wearing his heroic costume, the children could not believe that they were face-to-face with a real life super hero! They had the chance to ask lots of questions about the journey that he was on cycling around the world to all 7 continents, and they listened in awe to the tales of his adventures so far. It was lovely observing the children using their questioning skills and thinking hard about answering Super Cycling Man’s questions too.

Beyond the fun, laughs and hero costumes, there was an important reason for Super Cycling Man’s visit. It was to raise awareness and money for some life changing charities including Parkinson’s UK. By the end of his 5-year round the world adventure he hopes to raise thousands of pounds for these vital causes and inspire others to do the same.

The children all took away 5 important messages about ‘being a hero’ from meeting Super Cycling Man: be kind, dream big, never give up, live healthily, and take care of the environment. He taught us that we can all be heroes in our own way, if we try! Good luck Super Cycling Man AKA Mr Will Hodson and thanks for visiting our school!
