Year 4 Upcycling Workshop

Year 4 Upcycling Workshop | BIS HCMC - year-4-upcycling-workshop
Year 4 Upcycling Workshop Last week our Year 4 classes were treated to an inspirational workshop run by our parent group ‘One More Reused’.

Project “One More Reused” was first created by a group of our international school parents with a vision to reduce uniform waste, educate the public about environmental issues and be creative while doing so. ‘One More Reused’ has regular pop-up shops around the school; look out for them so you can check out the creative and innovative ways that they have upcycled BIS uniform items. Last week, though, they joined Year 4 in the classroom.

Year 4 classes were treated to an inspirational workshop run by our parent group ‘One More Reused’ as part of their International Primary Curriculum Topic of 'Fashion'. The team of dedicated parents made sure that Year 4 understood the term upcycling, then they explained their aims and showcased some of their fabulous products.

As the Year 4 students have been tasked with upcycling their own t-shirts, the parent group introduced several upcycling techniques: letter printing, potato printing, stencilling and fringing. The Year 4 students were really excited to sample these activities and were ready to get going with their own designs. A huge thank you to Bebe, Nandini, Melanie and Irene for running the workshops.

After spending time creating their upcycled fashion items, the children proudly exhibited them on the BIS HCMC catwalk as the exit point to this fantastic IPC topic:

In 2018, "One More Reused" was short listed for an International Impact Award, you can read more about why they were nominated and how to get involved here
