Early Achievers: Year 9 and 10 IGCSE Success
We are not only celebrating our Year 11s but also a further 70 students who rose to the challenge of the IGCSEs one to two years early in Maths and Mandarin, as part of our advanced classes.
We are incredibly proud of our advanced Year 10 Maths students who achieved an exceptional 100% A*–A. In addition, 100% of our 11 students in Year 9 who sat Mandarin as a foreign language achieved all A* grades — an extraordinary accomplishment at just 14 years old.
Their success shows that at BIS, excellence is defined not by age, but by passion, talent and determination.
The IGCSE to IBDP Pathway Advantage
The International General Certificate of Secondary Education or IGCSEs are an internationally recognised set of qualifications based around the British education system. Our Year 10 and 11 students are empowered to make their own choices and personalise their learning based on their future aspirations and passions. The two-year program concludes with the IGCSE exams giving students the opportunity to learn valuable skills and gain practical experience that they can bring forward with them to their International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) in Year 12.
Now beginning their IBDP journey, our Year 12s carry with them the strongest possible foundation. At BIS HCMC, we are proud to offer a pathway that combines the very best of both worlds: IGCSE followed by the IBDP.
Unlike some schools that follow a more traditional pathway, IGCSE through to A Levels, or MYP through to the IBDP, our students benefit from both. Through the IGCSE, they develop subject specialism, build exam resilience and experience, and explore their personal interests. Then, moving into the IBDP, they broaden their horizons across six subject groups, strengthen research and writing through the Extended Essay, and grow personally through Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) and Theory of Knowledge (TOK).
This dual approach gives students both academic depth and intellectual breadth. It equips them with the precision and exam skills of the British system, alongside the independence, global perspective and holistic development of the IB.
The result is a unique preparation that empowers our students not only to succeed at university, but to thrive as confident, adaptable global citizens.
