In just a few short weeks a group of Boston High School students from the British International School of Boston will travel to Tanzania for two weeks of service learning, as part of a Nord Anglia Education Global Campus program.
They will spend the first week working at a local school with other Nord Anglia students from around the world, but their second week will take them to a more remote area near Lake Natron, where they'll continue work on a sustainable farming site that was kicked off by other BISB students last year.
To help support them in this work, the students are looking for help from the school and wider Greater Boston community. Specifically, the students are looking for anyone with expertise or experience in the following areas:
The sustainable farming site is located at a Maasai village school, and was developed by local organizations and the village executive to help feed the children and teachers at the school.
The site was also designed to serve as an example for future sites, which could help provide fresh produce to the village, which currently relies on raising livestock and government support.
This year, our Boston students will help to improve the irrigation system in the original garden site created last year, and help to plan and design a new, expanded site for the school's sustainable farming site.
