I am a British-trained teacher of English Literature and Language from the north of England with over 20 years' experience working with students from around the world. I hold a BA, MA and PhD in English Literature and the subject continues to be a major source of inspiration and fascination for me. I've always loved teaching: it combines my two favourite things - books and people! I continue to actively research and publish on children's literature and book history with a focus on maritime culture. In my spare time, I enjoy crab fishing, mudlarking and brass rubbing.
