Ms. Barnwell

Allyssa Barnwell was born and raised in Detroit, MI, when she turned 16, she moved to Evanston, IL with her mother. Allyssa enjoyed her time in Illinois so much she decided to stay while her family moved onto other states. She graduated from Roosevelt University with a Bachelors in Psychology and Touro University with a Master of Arts in Media Psychology. She loves the study of media and how it can affect those who use them. Allyssa began her career at British International in 2019 as a Learning Assistant but as time went on, she became the schools Librarian. She loves creating a comfortable place where children are open to being themselves and express their love of books. Some of Allyssa’s favorite things are movies, video games, and reading books. She loves Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and superheroes. She enjoys playing golf, singing and acting and creating voices while she reads stories to the students.
