Colette grew up in a small village on the west coast of Scotland. At the age of 17, she had the opportunity to spend a year volunteer teaching in a school in Honduras, Central America. Speaking no Spanish was a real challenge in the beginning but was one that helped her realize her passion for children and primary language education. Over her 22-year career, 17 of those years here at BISC-LP, she has taught as both a class teacher and a Spanish teacher across the whole school from Pre-Nursery to Year 9. She believes that offering students fun and exciting ways to learn is key to grasping their attention and in turn, helping them nurture their love for learning. Colette loves Chicago’s diverse neighborhoods and their strong feeling of community, she enjoys exploring these with her husband and two children, particularly the many street festivals during Chicago’s summer.
