Mr. Rooney

Simon grew up in the beautiful, green countryside of Northern Ireland with his parents, two elder sisters, and many pets. To attend university, he moved to the bright lights of London, where he studied French and English Literature at King's College before completing his PGCE in Cardiff, Wales. Throughout his career, he has been fortunate to teach in diverse schools in London, Doha, Cairo, and most recently Tbilisi, where he has served as Primary Headteacher for the past two years. Having taught across the primary age range, he is delighted to be returning to Year 3 and looks forward to getting to know the Magnificent Macaws. Travel and learning about new cultures are great passions of his, and he is very excited to explore Chicago, especially Lincoln Park Zoo, as well as many other exciting places across the United States. Having enjoyed a memorable visit to California last Christmas, he has been inspired to discover even more of this amazing country. In his leisure time, he enjoys reading, watching movies, hiking, and crafting. He hopes to create a warm, happy, and engaging classroom where every voice is valued. A strong believer in nurturing creativity, he encourages imaginative thinking and creative approaches in all areas of learning. He is very much looking forward to getting to know his students and their families and building a strong classroom community that everyone can enjoy each school day.
