Sports Friday: Week of Sept. 28
Sports Friday: Week of Sept. 28 This week, our high school girls volleyball team retained their undefeated record, and the middle school boys soccer team took a 4-1 victory over Near North Montessori.

Middle School

On Thursday, the junior varsity and varsity volleyball teams took a double win at Catherine Cook School. Each win is equivalent to two, as CCS was unavailable for the first scheduled match on Wednesday. The junior varsity game was tense. In the first set, the Bulldogs made some technical mistakes with their passing, so the second set came with lots of pressure. The team was victorious in the second set, but it was close. Going into the third set, we were focused on delivering solid serves to get ahead early and siding out quickly. The plan worked well, and we pulled ahead to win the third set. The varsity team took a huge lead and won straight sets by dominating the net. We also had fantastic serves from all players, both tactical and powerful.

High School

Our high school team reigns undefeated! The girls played two games this week, on Tuesday vs. Wolcott School and Thursday vs. Lycee Francais. Our game against Wolcott was a bit closer than we would have liked, with minor mistakes occurring while setting up the ball. But we rectified these errors for a flawless game against Lycee Francis on Thursday; we dominated the service game and played good combinations between the setter and outside hitters.

Middle School

After a disappointing loss to Uno-Charter last week, our match on Tuesday against Near North Montessori had a lot of importance. The game started incredibly fast with debutant Chris scoring very early in the first half. Fellow debutant Lucas was involved in the next goal. Initially, the ref dished Lucas a penalty for fouling the NNM striker in the penalty box. However, the penalty was converted, and we were awarded the goal. Emre put us ahead with a dashing run down the left wing and a cut inside to score from 15 yards. We were then awarded a penalty kick when the referee judged that Emre was fouled in the area. Chris stepped up and slotted home to make it 3-1 at half time. Mid way through the second half, Chris scored his third (which made it a hat trick on his debut) from distance, smashing the ball into the top right corner of the goal from 25 yards! The team took the win 4-1.
