Reduce, reuse, recycle with the Secondary Eco Club We are the Eco Club and we want to improve our community’s approach to the environment. We are going to be promoting and organising activities for the future of the planet.

We are the Eco Club and we want to improve our community’s approach to the environment. We are going to be promoting and organising activities for the future of the planet.

We want to promote actions to contribute to conserve all living things on planet Earth. Keeping in mind the three Rs ’Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’.

Our members include:

  • Sophie (Soyoon Lee), 7P - Social Media Director
  • Lauren Smeed, 7P - Chief Editor
  • Sebastian Eagle, 8S - Research Extra-ordinaire
  • Joceline Ma, 12B - Creative Director
  • Kenny Wang, 12B - Media director
  • Ray Yu, 12I - Director Manager

We believe that we can change our thinking of planet Earth and with the help of Ms Coong and Ms Garcia we can change BISS.

We are working with the Eco Student Leaders (Lauren Smeed 7P, Tiffany Hume 7P, John Lin 10S and Benjamin Hsin 10I) to accomplish this aim.

ROOTS AND SHOOTS

As a school this year, we would like to support the charity Roots and Shoots by contributing to The Million Tree Project (MTP). Starting in 2007, the MTP programme aims to fight climate change and desertification by planting carbon sequestrating trees in Northern China.

My name is Lauren Smeed, I am an Eco Student Leader and I am part of the Eco Club. I joined the Eco Club because I want to make a change. If you are wondering what I am talking about, I want to help towards solving climate change and plastic pollution. I want to encourage everyone to think about what climate change is. We need everyone to try to be nicer and more respectful to the environment. This is all a need, not what we want as we all need to act together to help the global issue of climate change.

"The climate crisis has already been solved. We already have the facts and the solutions. All we have to do is wake up and change" Greta Thunberg

We all need to change our individual habits to help tackle climate change. The Eco Club hopes that everyone in our school community will get involved! Watch this space to join upcoming challenges for a greener environment!
