I am one of the founding members of The British International School Shanghai, Puxi, and have been privileged to grow alongside this wonderful community for over 20 years. My career in education spans both China and the UK, giving me a deep understanding of the British curriculum and the unique needs of international families relocating to Shanghai.
I hold a Master’s degree in Marketing Management from the University of Lincoln and have specialised in Marketing and Admissions since 2008. In my role as Admissions Manager, I have had the pleasure of helping thousands of families navigate their child’s educational journey from their very first enquiry to a confident start at our school. What brings me the greatest joy is not only supporting a child’s smooth transition into a new school, but also watching them grow, graduate, and go on to university.
Some of the children I first welcomed years ago are now young parents themselves, and it fills me with immense pride to see them return to BISS Puxi to enroll their own children. I look forward to welcoming your family to our community.
Echo Li is Admissions Manager at The British International School Shanghai.
I grew up in Shanghai and studied English at the Shanghai Teaching University. I joined BISS straight after university and worked my way up to the Admissions Manager role within the Marketing, Admissions and Communications department. I have seen the school grow and how the addition of key buildings, such at the two STEAM centres in the Primary and Secondary Schools, make such a difference to students and their learning.
I enjoy the whole journey, from the initial interaction with parents to seeing students join on their first day, and developing academically, creatively, personally and socially at the school. I'm married, with one child. In my spare time, I enjoys watching films and travelling to new places with my family and friends. I believe that travel is an education in itself, and an opportunity to open our eyes to new perspectives.
I graduated from the University of Leeds with a major in Communication Studies. Before joining BISS, I worked at a law firm managing corporate license renewals and tax administration. This experience strengthened my communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
As a mother of a son, I deeply understand the importance of the right educational environment in shaping a child’s future. I joined BISS because I truly believe that education matters. I am passionate about supporting students and families in finding opportunities that help children grow academically, socially and personally within a global learning environment.
I graduated from the Australian National University with majors in Psychology and Art History & Curatorship. After returning to Shanghai, because of my passion for marketing, I worked in that field. Following that experience, I joined BISS, where I have remained for over a decade. This long tenure has given me a deep, comprehensive understanding of the school — its values, culture and unique strengths. Witnessing the school's growth and evolution over the years has only strengthened my commitment to its mission.
What I truly love about the admissions role is being the first point of contact for prospective families, helping them begin their educational journey with us. I take great joy in sharing the school’s story, understanding each family’s needs, and matching them with an environment where their children can thrive. Every successful enrollment feels like building a bridge between a family’s hopes and the school’s vision. This sense of connection, trust, and shared purpose fuels my passion for admissions every day.
I joined BISS in 2019. Before that, I worked at Danaher and spent seven years as a VP Assistant at Unilever, later moving into finance department to lead SAP reporting projects. I focus on admissions data and systems — making sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes for our families and team.
What I truly love about working at BISS is its inclusive, international culture. There's a genuine sense of respect and openness here — everyone's background and experience is valued. After years in large corporate environments, I've found that BISS feels different. It's not just efficient and professional; it's also warm and human. People support each other, and there's a real shared commitment to our community. That positive, collaborative atmosphere is something I deeply appreciate every single day.
Following my graduation with a degree in Journalism from the University of Essex (UK), I relocated to China to take up teaching assistant and English as an Additional Language (EAL) roles at The British School of Guangzhou (BSG).
During that time, I also freelanced for various publications, including Guangzhou Morning Post and In The Red magazine. This experience led to a position within BSG’s marketing team, as the school joined the Nord Anglia Education family. Since then, I have held marketing, admissions and communications roles across different international schools.
I joined BISS in 2023, where I am proud to be part of a highly collaborative and professional team. My main hobby is following West Ham United Football Club.
I graduated from the University of Manchester with a master’s degree in Public Policy and Management, and I studied Marketing for my bachelor’s degree. My international education experience has given me a broader global perspective, strong business awareness and confidence in cross-cultural communication.
Before joining BISS, I worked as a primary English teacher at New Oriental, where I saw first-hand how meaningful education can be for students and families. That experience helped me realise that education and marketing communications are the areas I truly want to keep growing in.
I joined BISS in 2019 and currently work as the Marketing & Events Officer. I enjoy creating warm, authentic and engaging content that helps more families understand BISS’ values, strengths and community spirit.
Outside of work, I have a happy family and a Bichon Frise, who has been with me for 18 years. I enjoy fitness and swimming, which helps me to stay positive, balanced and energetic.
I joined BISS in 2017 as the Marketing and Publications Officer. Before that, I worked at Wall Street English in marketing for nearly 3 years, and then at Education First as Program Adviser for 2 years. Those experiences gave me a strong foundation in education marketing and client communication.
I truly enjoy the international working environment at BISS. Everyone is incredibly kind and welcoming, every idea is encouraged, the students' faces are always full of laughter and smiles, and I alway feeling energised every single day.
As a mother of a boy, I love spending quality time with my family at the weekend. We go on trips together and discover different landscapes — and in doing so, we grow our world bigger and bigger together.
Tiger was the valedictorian at Léman International School, Chengdu in 2018. During his time at the school he set up a successful business and earned a place at one of the best universities in the world. He continues to excel, securing prestigious internships and scholarships as part of his university experience.
