Writing can be a chore if it’s always done on paper as a theoretical exercise. Thankfully, it doesn’t always have to be that way as there are many ways to blend practice and fun.
Year 1 have had a blast playing guessing games while being the teacher in the big seat! They chose objects from the realia prepared in class and instructed the class on what language they had to use when guessing the item. They practised their new food vocabulary by preparing pictures and words on separate post-it notes and having to find their partner to form a whole flash-note.
Year 4 worked together to recreate our class song about their dreams of dragons. They worked in pairs and played a game of running dictation, where one person reads the text hidden around the classroom and the other person writes what is read to them. It built up their teamwork, alongside their reading and writing skills as they tried to beat the clock, and each other!
Who knows what kooky way they’re going to come up with next to practise their language skills?!
