BSB SANLITUN LOWER KEY STAGE 2 CURRICULUM

In Lower Key Stage 2 at our international Primary School in Sanlitun, Chaoyang District, our children follow the National Curriculum for England. Our Year 3 and 4 students benefit from a positive, stimulating, and challenging environment, which builds on their experiences in Key Stage 1. In Years 3 and 4 of Primary School at BSB Sanlitun, Chaoyang District, we focus on our students’ holistic development. This includes giving them opportunities to work with peers, to discover different perspectives, and to share their achievements with the school community.

We want every child to feel inspired, too. Our National Curriculum for England teachers deliver extraordinary cross-curricular learning experiences – both in lessons and beyond the classroom – that ignite imaginations and spark curiosity and creativity.

INTRODUCING NEW AND CHALLENGING TOPICS

At Lower Primary Key Stage 2, our topic work covers history, geography, science, art, PSHE, literacy, maths, and design and technology. Weekly specialist lessons include Chinese, music, and PE. BSB Sanlitun’s Lower Key Stage 2 curriculum also involves several immersive trips, including residential excursions for our Year 3 and 4 children.

In guided reading, we focus on the development of comprehension skills, including our students' ability to talk about the text they’re reading. Weekly library sessions give our children access to a world of books, and we encourage parents and children to read at home.

BUILDING CONFIDENCE IN LOWER KEY STAGE 2

We make sure our Lower Key Stage 2 international Primary School students have lots of wonderful opportunities to present and perform, whether it’s in class, to their parents, or in front of the whole school. This boosts their confidence and gives them a platform to showcase their skills and talents. Performances include class assemblies, drama and music activities, and sports.
