With sweltering heat and regular lightning delays interrupting the schedule, it was a demanding event for everyone involved, but our students handled the conditions brilliantly.
There were some excellent individual performances. Zac delivered an outstanding throw to win the U15 Boys Discus with 35.42m, and also added a 3rd place in the U15 Boys Javelin. Megan secured 1st place in the U15 Girls Javelin with a throw of 21.12m, while Dara had a superb meet, winning both the U13 Girls 400m and U13 Girls 200m, as well as placing 3rd in the Triple Jump.
On the track, Samson produced a strong run to win the U15 Boys 800m, and Jared impressed across multiple sprint events with 2nd place in the 200m, 3rd in the 100m, and 4th in the 400m. San also competed brilliantly, placing 3rd in the U13 Boys 1500m and 4th in the 400m, while Tayden took 3rd place in the U15 Boys 1500m. In the field events, Thomas and Dara both secured 3rd place in the U13 Triple Jump, and Asha added another podium finish with 3rd in the U18 Girls High Jump.
While the medals were fantastic to see, AIMS is not won purely through 1st place finishes. The competition rewards the collective effort of the entire team across every event. Effort is sometimes difficult to measure on paper, but throughout the two days our athletes showed it in abundance, supporting teammates, stepping up in challenging conditions, and giving everything in their events.
A huge well done to everyone who represented the school.
The team spirit, determination and resilience on display across the championships made it a performance to be proud of.
