Navruz, meaning ‘new day’, is a cherished celebration observed by many communities and nations worldwide. The occasion signifies the start of the year for over 300 million people, embodying the spirit of renewal and togetherness.
At The British School of Tashkent, Navruz was a vibrant affair, bringing together our school community in celebrating the rich traditions of Uzbek culture.
We offer our students the opportunity immerse themselves in local and global learning opportunities, and during the day, students enjoyed mesmerising performances, showcasing traditional Uzbek dances by both staff members and professional dancers. One of the highlights of the celebration was the sharing of Sumalak, a sweet delicacy prepared for over 24 hours on the school grounds.
Watch the video below to see how we celebrated Navruz.
Navruz at our school is more than just a cultural event; it is a testament to the spirit of unity and community that defines us. In coming together to celebrate Navruz, we embraced diversity, fostered understanding, and celebrated the richness of our BST community.
