Dear families,
We have had another fantastic week here at BVIS Hanoi.
I am delighted to announce that last weekend our girls Junior Varsity Basketball team became the HAC Champions for this academic year. A huge congratulations to the girls and the staff, another incredible achievement for our school sports teams.

On Tuesday afternoon I had the pleasure of taking part in the Alumni event hosted here at BVIS. Five incredible alumni students from BVIS shared their experiences with parents and our Year 12 students.
A reminder that we are now receiving final registration for the TET Fair, I hope many of you will be able to join us.
I am delighted to announce that we will be running summer school again this year and we already have many great teachers from BVIS and BIS signed up to lead the course. Please see details below:

I wish you all a very relaxing weekend ahead.

Early Years children are using their imaginations in a variety of creative ways, exploring paint, designing playdough creations, and constructing imaginative castles with blocks.

In PSHE, The children in Year 1 listened to the story “We Are All Different”, shared their ideas about how everyone has different interests, strengths, and family backgrounds, and created their own pieces of a whole-class puzzle. Through this activity, they learned that each person is unique and that we all belong together as a caring and respectful community.

Year 2 students launched their IPC topic, “The Earth – Our Home,” through hands-on activities including planting, hydroponics and model-making with recycled materials. Meeting Ms Phuong from Think Playground helped inspire environmental awareness and a sense of responsibility for caring for our planet.

Year 3 experience the 'sweetness' of Tet through traditional treats to ignite a passion for poetry. This sensory opening bridges cultural flavors with creative expression, ensuring students are fully engaged and inspired.

In PHSE, Year 4 became reuse innovators, learning how to turn everyday items into meaningful new ideas. Through lively discussions and creative activities, they clearly demonstrated teamwork, environmental awareness and a strong enthusiasm for learning. These small actions today form the foundations for a greener future.

Year 5 Vietnamese lesson was lively and engaging. The students explored the topic of Tet riddles and poems through a variety of fun and interactive activities. They also worked together to perform the poem using actions, making our lessons more memorable, dynamic, and full of laughter.

Y6 students made spring rolls as part of their learning about traditional food from Northern Vietnam. Through this hands-on activity, they explored cultural knowledge while following instructions, handling ingredients, and working collaboratively. The experience helped develop important skills such as teamwork, fine motor skills, communication, and cultural awareness.

This weekend, the BVIS Dragons reached another significant milestone as our KS4 (JV) Girls Basketball team were crowned champions of the HAC Basketball Tournament. While the trophy is a proud moment for our school, the real achievement lies far beyond the final score. For full details of the game click here.

Congratulations to Mai Phuong Khue (7V) and Gia Khanh (7V) the winners of our Antarctic Flag competition earlier this year. The flags from your school have made it onto the RV Polarstern ship. Your flags were taken to Antarctica by Jennifer Freer who is a marine ecologist. The RV Polarstern is a German icebreaker ship of the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research in Bremerhaven, Germany.
Jen is in Antarctica to undertake science in the Kap Norvegica area and resupply at the Neumayer station. Below are some pictures of her trip plus the BVIS flags in Antarctica! You can follow the Polastern expedition here.

This weekend our Duke of Edinburgh group will head off to Sapa to complete their assessed expedition. It will certainly be colder than their Practice expedition (pictured below). We wish them lots of good luck and are looking forward to seeing photos of their adventure.

On Tuesday we were delighted to welcome back Le Hoang, Khanh Dan, Van Khue and Anh Ken from the Class of 2025 and Truc Khanh from the class of 2022. They spoke to Year 12 students and parents about their university experience, reflected on how BVIS had prepared them and offered words of advice to Y12 students. It was wonderful to welcome them back and we loved hearing about their studies and adventures.
