CIS'18_141
Our vibrant international school is home to children and families from more than 80 countries, inspiring our students to explore different cultures and learn new languages.

While we primarily teach in English at Compass, we encourage all our students to learn a variety of languages.

French and Spanish

At our Madinat Khalifa campus, French is offered to students from Year 1 through to IBDP, while Spanish is taught from Year 7 to IBDP. At our Gharaffa campus, we teach French to international students from Years 1 to 6. And at Themaid, our secondary students learn French and Spanish from Year 7 through to IGCSE and A-Levels. We also teach French from Years 1 to 6 in primary.

Arabic

Qatari nationals and other native speakers study Arabic in line with Ministry of Education guidelines. Non-native speakers can learn Arabic as an extra-curricular activity, as well as in the curriculum in primary and secondary school.

Dutch

Our Dutch and Belgian students can choose to follow our fully accredited Dutch Programme, which is overseen by our Dutch coordinator. We also offer Dutch language and culture as an extra-curricular option as part of the LanguageOne Programme for native speakers.

LanguageOne provides mother tongue education to international schools. At Compass, our Dutch speaking primary students can join these programmes at our Gharaffa campus and our IB students can join the Dutch A programme at our Madinat Khalifa campus.

For more information about LanguageOne, visit www.languageone.org or contact our Local Director, Amara Kwekkemboom, at amara.kwekkeboom@languageone.org or +971 56 204 8610. You can also read more about our Dutch Programme here.
