While we primarily teach in English at Compass, we encourage all our students to learn a variety of languages.
French
French is offered across both campuses. Themaid runs an Advanced French programme from Year 1 to Year 6, with French also available from Early Years 2 through to A-Levels and International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). At Madinat Khalifa, French spans from Early Years 1 to Year 11.
Students also have the opportunity to work towards the internationally recognised DELF (Diplôme d'Études en Langue Française) qualification, an official French language diploma awarded by the French Ministry of Education. In Qatar, DELF examinations are organised by the Institut français du Qatar, the country’s authorised centre for French language examinations. Our students have achieved a 100% DELF pass rate for three consecutive years, reflecting their consistently strong performance in French.
Spanish
Spanish is taught from Year 7 through to Year 13 (Compass PLUS) at Themaid, and at Madinat Khalifa our secondary students learn Spanish from Year 7 through to Year 13 IGCSE, A-levels and International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP)
Arabic
Qatari nationals and other native speakers study Arabic in line with Ministry of Education guidelines. Non-native speakers can learn Arabic as an extra-curricular activity, as well as in the curriculum in primary and secondary school.
Dutch
At Compass, we’re proud to offer the only accredited Dutch programme in Qatar, delivered in partnership with LanguageOne.
Dutch-speaking students can continue developing their language and cultural connection through a structured Dutch curriculum at our Themaid campus. Dutch learning is integrated into the school day, with the programme available for students through Primary and Secondary.
We also offer after-school Dutch lessons for beginners and beyond, giving more students the opportunity to learn and develop their Dutch. These sessions are available at no additional cost to Compass students and are also open to students from other schools.
