The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award sets our students up for life. Since the Award launched more than 60 years ago, it has inspired millions of young people across the globe.
By creating opportunities for students to learn new skills, get active, help others, and go on adventures, the Award plays a critical role in their development beyond the classroom. Really importantly, it recognises their incredible achievements. The Award is highly respected by universities and employers all over the world, too.
The DofE complements our ethos perfectly. Not only does it dovetail with the Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) element of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), but it also helps our younger students to learn and grow. They pick up skills ranging from leadership, teamwork and time management to resilience, communication and confidence.
In 2021, 31 of our students achieved their Bronze Award and 11 got their Silver Award. In June 2018, 23 students and three members of staff travelled to Nepal for the Silver Adventurous Journey. And in 2019, our students took part our first ever Gold Adventurous Journey to Dartmoor in the UK.
