IB Diploma Programme Success

On Sunday, 20 May 2018, Compass International School Doha celebrated the successful graduation of the Year 13 International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme students. After three weeks of exams, students, parents and staff attended the ceremony at Madinat Khalifa campus where they were welcomed by Dr Terry Creissen OBE. He spoke of the hard work put in by all involved and reminded students that, whatever trials they may face in life, he hoped that they would always approach each challenge with compassion and tolerance, favouring friendship over adversity, peace over war and love over hate.  The welcome was then followed by a speech in Arabic by Abdulla Al Subai, one of our Qatari graduates, who thanked staff for their contribution and wished all graduates the best of luck in the future.

Speeches were then made by Mr Tom Douch, Head of Secondary, and Mr Justin Hughes, IB Coordinator, who reflected upon the 50th year of the IB Diploma Programme and how the values of the IB will guide the students in their future. After the graduation certificates were awarded, Suzanne and Diana Hendricks made the valedictorian speech. At the ceremony’s end everyone enjoyed graduation cake kindly donated by Dr Al Subai and Sheikha Al-Subaey.

Our graduates have received offers to Universities including Imperial College London, University of Amsterdam, University of Durham and University of Leeds as well as institutions in the United States, Canada, Malaysia and Australia. We would like to wish them success in the next chapter of their education.
