Dear Parents,

“Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other.” – John F. Kennedy

Our student leadership elections took place last week in MK Primary. There was a real buzz around the place as students shared their ideas on how to make our school even better. I have been astounded by the number of students who put themselves forward to represent their class and the school. These students presented their proposals in an enthusiastic and confident manner whilst their classmates and House peers listened intently and responded with insightful questions.

The Primary school council was announced and presented during Thursday’s assembly.

They are as follows:

3MA – Kinda Ismail

3MB – Zainab Hamouda

4MA – Ebun Agbetunsin

4MB – Miya Duarte

4MC – Pratik Chokkalingam

5MA – Althea Pena

5MB – Mohannad Amer

6MA – Farhan Al Shamari

6MB – Allegra Gasparri

We were also proud to present our House Captains:

North – Layan Al Sairi

East – Sydney Toet

South – Tessa Lelieveld

West – Zaid Seyam

The process for appointing Head Boy and Head Girl was different. This involved students submitting an application, which included their ideas for improving the school for students and a reference from a teacher. These were then reviewed by Miss Bastone, Mr McArtney and myself. The final stage involved four of the applicants being invited to an interview with Miss Bastone and myself. After hours of deliberation, we finally agreed on the two successful candidates.

The Heads of our MK Primary Students Leaders are:

Head Girl – Nada Al Kharazi

Head Boy – Graham Wing

Congratulations to these students and a huge thank you to all that volunteered for the role. For those students not successful, there will be a number of additional leadership opportunities for all ages linked to our global campus challenges throughout the year.

Have a great week!
