Themaid News | Monday, 3 February 2020 Enjoy our updates from Ms Ann Djedid, Head of Campus, Themaid.

Dear Parents,

As our school community grows, we are seeing more parental involvement and receiving valuable feedback on how we can improve.

Parental communication is key to ensuring that you are fully informed about your child’s learning journey at Themaid and giving you opportunities to be involved.

The first of those was the Parent Survey. Thank you to those parents who completed the survey. Once the results have been professionally analyzed by the consultancy group, we will have the key points to work from, celebrating our strengths then working together on opportunities to grow and build on.

Our Friends of Compass Group met last Wednesday and gave valuable feedback into the ECA programme, thoughts on International Week and ideas for Parent Seminars. These are all opportunities for parents to be involved in learning; by sharing traditions and culture from your home country, giving suggestions for ECA programmes and by being learners yourself.

By attending Parent Seminars, you learn how the curriculum is delivered and gain valuable insight into all aspects of school life. This helps you to help your child, which forms a great partnership between home, school and students. Our FCS group will be conducting a survey on ECAs and Parent Seminars later this term. Please let us know what you would like to see.

On Thursday Year 1 led an assembly to share their learning about Flowers and Insects. They spoke out clearly and learned so many facts and songs about plants. We were so impressed with their knowledge and performance skills. Well done year 1.

Our IPC Personal Goal certificate was for Morality - making the right choices. I was delighted to hear that so many of our children know the difference between right and wrong and always make the right choices. They make sure they do the right thing and help others to do so. They were rewarded with a certificate for their efforts and are great role models for the whole school.

We have primary Parent Teacher Consultations on Monday evening and secondary, Years 7 and 9 on Tuesday evening of this week. Please come along to find out how well your child is progressing and how you can support them at home with their next steps in learning. If you cannot make it, please contact the teacher to make an alternative appointment.

Half term break will be from Sunday, 9 February until Thursday, 13 February inclusive.

We return to school on Sunday, 16 February for an action-packed Sports Week and Juilliard Artist visit from the Curriculum Speaclist, Dance Joshua Palmer. He will be working with groups of students at Themaid campus and presenting an assembly for students and parents at 7.30am on Wednesday, 19 February. We hope you can join us. Details of the timings for Sports Week have been sent out separately. Students should wear their house colours on sports day-please come along to support them.

Have a lovely half term break and we look forward to seeing you back in school, refreshed, on Sunday, 16 February.

Kind regards

Ann Djedid
