End of Year Head of Primary Message - End of Year Head of Primary Message
Message from Head of Primary

Dear DCIS Families,

As I look back on the last academic year it feels like it has passed in the blink of an eye. However, when I scroll back through my calendar and take note of all of the events, learning, celebrations, challenges and successes that have occurred it is nothing short of remarkable. In fact, I’m sure I could write a book (or at least a very long chapter), rather than the couple of hundred words here, and still not include it all. It is safe to say that this academic year has been an extraordinary journey, and I believe we can look back with pride with all that has been achieved.

We have witnessed the vibrant resurgence of our school after Covid restrictions were lifted. I've had the privilege of observing tremendous growth and development in our students. Countless unforgettable experiences, cherished friendships, and enriching learning opportunities have marked our path. From the early days of face masks and limited communal activities, we progressed to full-fledged productions, music showcases, and class performance assemblies where every student shone on stage.

Captivating field trips, both within and beyond Singapore, were reintroduced. Many students experienced their first overnight camps, demonstrating resilience, kindness, and compassion while having a wonderful time. Welcoming families into our school, embracing diversity, and interconnectedness has strengthened our community spirit, creating an inclusive, compassionate, and welcoming environment.

These events, alongside the rich daily learning experiences in classrooms, playgrounds, and sports facilities, have provided unforgettable moments contributing greatly to our children's personal and academic growth.

None of this happens by chance; it is the result of our exceptional team of dedicated and passionate staff members who consistently go above and beyond to support our students in realising their full potential. The positive impact our teachers and teacher assistants have in their daily interaction with our children cannot be underestimated. I am also very grateful to our Primary middle leadership and senior leadership teams whose knowledge, dedication and mentorship help keep us moving in the right direction. I express heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to all our staff, for their commitment and hard work in creating a nurturing, caring, and stimulating learning environment for our children.

I also must commend our students. The first and lasting impression I had when engaging with our children at the beginning of the year was the evidence of their compassion, understanding and care to each other. We recognise that there is a lot to learn as we grow up and there are mistakes made along the way. However, our values of resilience, integrity, kindness, diversity, creativity and excellence are promoted and demonstrated daily

If you are continuing your journey with us or as a family moving to pastures new, I am sure these values will continue to play an important role in your child’s development. I extend sincere gratitude to our parents and caregivers for entrusting us with your children's education and well-being. We are immensely proud of their achievements and eagerly look forward to what next year brings.
