Natalie Whalan graduated from Griffith University, Australia, with a Master’s in Special Education (specialising in Autism Spectrum Disorder) and a Bachelor of Education (Primary Years).
Natalie began her teaching career in an autism-specific school before moving into broader special education settings. During this time, she gained valuable experience supporting children with a diverse range of needs, strengths and abilities.
In 2015, Natalie relocated to Singapore, where she spent several years teaching at two international schools, further enriching her professional experience. Over the years, she has built a strong foundation in both mainstream and special education settings.
Most recently, Natalie worked as the Inclusive Education Leader at a primary school in Australia. In this role, she was able to share her passion for inclusive education by working closely with teachers and the learning support team to create a strength-based, neuro-affirming environment where every child felt valued, supported and celebrated.
Natalie takes great pride in her teaching approach. She enjoys creating warm, welcoming classrooms that feel like a home away from home - spaces where children feel safe, happy, and ready to learn. Natalie believes that learning is most meaningful when it builds on students’ strengths and connects to their interests. She enjoys creating engaging and inclusive learning experiences that encourage curiosity, confidence and a sense of belonging for every child.
Natalie and her husband Nick first moved to Singapore in 2015, where they celebrated many special milestones - including their wedding and the arrival of both their daughters. After returning to Australia in late 2021, they’re now thrilled to be back in Singapore. This will be Natalie’s second year teaching at Dover Court International School. Outside the classroom, Natalie enjoys travel, animals and time with her family.
