What are we working on right now?
Year 7 students learnt about cells earlier this year. They now know that cells are fundamental units of life and they show us every day that their generation has taken in seriously with cell (phones). However, the Year 7 cell models displayed at the stair case near biology lab show how creative they are. This term they will study reproduction of animals and plants.
This term Year 8 will continue to look at ecosystems and understand how all living things work together to coexist. The students all will be going on a trip to Devin to get a hands on feel for ecology in a joint Biology and Chemistry trip, which will see the students studying and analyzing rocks and plant life, just like real life Ecologists!
Year 9 students have been busy with their INSIGHT tests recently. Now they will start pre-IGCSE unit, in which they will study transport of chemicals by cells and continue developing their experimental skills.
Year 10s has just finished studying the 'heart' matters in the topic about transport in animal. Before their end of year exam they will study why were are so busy with changing oxygen to carbon dioxide in respiration every day.
Year 12 are surviving on photosynthesis (just like a moss :) They find experimental work as much fun as Year 7s. All fun is gone when they need to produce a write up for their internal assessment.
We hope to use the space of outdoor classroom as much as possible during this term and we are happy to see that other teachers like to use it too for their subjects.
