The concert started with the hand bells ensemble playing the Elisabeth Serenade, followed by Michael Jackson's Earth Song led by Mrs Hatinova. Then our youngest performers 'young voices', a choir of mostly year 1 students, were led by Mrs. Warmington. These young musicians sang a song with the lyrics 'and the audience all went woo', which set the tone for the evening. There was much wooing from the audience from this point forward!
Other performers included the a cappella primary choir, the boys' choir, the primary choir, the secondary girls' choir, the staff choir, the ukulele club, the string stars orchestra and the senior orchestra. It was a debut performance for our new group 'Rocket Strings' led by Mrs Barros the violin teacher. Young violinists who haven't been playing long were able to stand and perform on the stage as one group, commanding the audience's attention just as well as the more experienced ensembles. We clearly have a very bright musical future ahead of us in the school.
There were also solo performances from Chiann-Yu Chen (piano), Amber Yi Xin Hoh (violin), Ryan Bradshaw (piano), Filip Baranec (accordian) and Ji Min Oh (piano). All of which were polished to perfection and greatly appreciated by the audience.
The concert ended with a rousing piece involving the senior orchestra, secondary girls’ choir and the staff choir who performed Adiemus by Karl Jenkins.
There was a great turn out for this concert, despite the miserable weather and both the audience and the performers thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
