DVAC - High School Girls Basketball Tournament at BISB

Saturday 9th March

The girls played extremely well as a team with some great success and close losses in their matches.

  • Girls Basketball Tournament at BISB

In the first match against AISB the girls used their half court man-to-man defense confidently. Indi had some impressive long range shots and Ella gained some excellent rebounds for the team to counter attack. The girls lost 23-9 in the end.

In the second match against VIS the girls focused hard and set some excellent screens when attacking throughout the game. Maddie pressured her player well when defending and Mieke was a great ball carrier, who made good decisions of who to pass to which led to baskets being scored.  Due to the girls work ethic on court they won 30-14.

In the third match against BISBud the girls were confident after their recent win against VIS. The game was very close between teams, with only 1 or 2 points ever splitting the scores between them. Vicky was strong in defence and regained possession as well as Blanca driving up court continuously when counter attacking. However, in the last few seconds of the match the girls lost possession and consequently lost the game 21-19 but put in so much effort!

The final match was against ICSB for third position in the tournament. The team was tiring but even so Rebekah, as captain, was positive in her play and continuously supported the attack and defensive play. The girls were tiring at this point in the day and lost a few defensive rebounds. The final score was 16-24 to ICSB, but again another encouraging performance from the BISB girls.

I was happy all round with not only the student performance, but also their general etiquette both on and off court. This festival was an excellent experience for the team, with the upcoming Nord Anglia KS3 Football and Volleyball Tournament in Budapest.

Well done girls!
