Why there's no i in team - the importance of teamwork in student sports at Northbridge We have now completed the second week of practical classes at Northbridge International School Cambodia since the reopening of our campus. It is great that our students are back to 'normal' in regards to what they can and can't do at school, especially in our PHE lessons.

We have now completed the second week of practical classes at Northbridge International School Cambodia since the reopening of our campus. It is great that our students are back to 'normal' in regards to what they can and can't do at school, especially in our PHE lessons.

Whilst the new 'normal' will include social distancing for the foreseeable future, we can look forward to team games for the first time in a year here at Northbridge - hooray!

So what does that mean exactly for Primary students? It means we can now include team games such as football and basketball in our array of activities for our students. Tee-ball will also be included in the second half of the semester.

From the quote above we can take comfort from the fact that being part of a team is crucial to the development of our children. The qualities it instills allows the young mind to grow and evolve into the rounded individual who can put the needs of others above themselves when required.

These traits are transferable into all aspects of life, and sports give us the opportunities to experience this as well as the emotions of winning and losing. Channelling a competitive spirit within a team framework can give students some of the best experiences that occur in their school career and certainly create life long memories. Just ask any adult who played team sports if they remember their school games!

Whilst the current climate does not allow for visiting schools or spectators, we are determined to prepare our students for the days coming soon when these restrictions are eased. When government regulations allow, we will be welcoming teams to our school with open arms and our parents too.
