Our students were treated to a range of lectures and information sessions where they thoughtfully gave their feedback on different strategies to combat climate change and contribute to the achievement of the United Nations Global Goals. Parts of the conference were in whole groups while at other times the students went into breakout rooms to discuss individual topics. The Global Goals are already well incorporated into our school life as part of Nord Anglia’s partnership with UNICEF. One of the suggestions from our student Marco that greatly impressed the hosts was to, “Stop using complex synthetic fibres that will be inexplicably hard to decompose, and resort to more natural fibres from grains and plants”.
The students who represented our school with distinction were Mario, Ilia, Isabella, Hannah, Marco, Ruby, Kelly, Bella, Amy and Scarlet. Our principal, Mr. Ferguson, dropped in to hear and read their contributions and was hugely impressed by the level of thought and foresight shown by our Year 6’s. All the students will be presented with a certificate to mark their participation in this unique event.
