It’s Showtime!

An Extraordinary Send Off for Ms. Whitehead

Thank you to everyone who shared in this past week’s elementary school Spring concert. It was a fitting ending to Ms. Whitehead’s tenure here at CDS.  As mentioned, Ms. Whitehead came to CDS under very difficult circumstances taking over the music program from literally one day to the next in the middle of the first semester.  It was evident after her first all school performance in May of 2017 that she was throttling our music program into the stratosphere. With all school performances that included up to 240 students, 40+ teachers and assistants, Ms. Whitehead created shows that stunned her audiences.  She pushed the entire community out of our comfort zones to create music, movement and individual soloists that left some of us speechless and others with tears in our eyes. We will miss Annalee Whitehead dearly as a music teacher, member of our community and especially as a friend.  Thank you, Ms. Whitehead for three of the most amazing years of music education, professionalism and friendship!

Field Day: Thursday, June 6

It is that time again!  EC/ES Field day will be held Thursday, June 6 throughout the CDS campus.  Students will be enjoying 10 fun filled stations, including water stations, team competitions, and even a ZIP LINE!!!  The school is also offering a picnic lunch for the students to enjoy laying out on the green and enjoying themselves with their friends and teachers.

This year we ask that the students where the following T-shirt colors in order to identify them with their Field Day teams:  (the A,B,C, or D refers to the section of the grade level, for example 1A,2A,3A,4A,5A wears blue)

Grade 5 Movie-Up Day with Grade 6

A big thank you to Mr. Tucker and Ms. Urrutia for a fun filled morning of activities and snacks with the grade 6 students and teachers.  This past Thursday morning, our grade 5 students were introduced to middle school principal, Mr. James Tucker and middle school counselor Ms. Isabel Urrutia and the entire grade 6 student body and teaching staff in an effort to welcome the incoming grade 6 class.  We played games outside on the field, had a tour of the middle school classrooms and had a nice snack while watching Mr. Tucker destroy Mr. Young in ping-pong in the middle school student lounge. It was a great morning for all and our grade 5 students looked excited for their big move to middle school next year!

News and Scores from the Panther Den!

We had a stellar week in the Panther Den as we earned victories last Sunday with the grade 5 Lady Panthers earning second place overall in the St. Paul Tournament and bringing home a massive trophy as a result of their hard work.

This past weekend, the both the grade 3&4 and grade 5 boys Panther teams enjoyed big victories against the Academia de Futbol Por Siempre.  The grade 3&4 team won by a score of 5-1, while the grade 5 team exploded for 10 goals!! A fantastic way to end the season for all teams!!

Last Monday our CDS elementary volleyball team played Blue Valley and ended their season with a big win: 1-Set = 15-8

2-Set = 15-6

3-Set = 15-9

4-Set  = 15-3

Thank you to the Parent Association

This past Friday evening the CDS Parent Association treated the CDS staff to a Caribbean night of music, dancing, food and drinks.  It was an amazing night of fun with good food and good people. We are fortunate to have such dedicated members of our PA who care deeply about our learning community.  Whether it is showing appreciation to our staff or working to improve our school, their work is spectacular.
