Dining and Nightlife
The Pattaya, Rayong and Chonburi area has many faces. There are incredible beaches, great food and some of the best resorts in Thailand. It is no doubt that the Eastern Seaboard’s largest city (Pattaya) has its shortcomings, however, this pales in comparison to its proximity to the ocean, top-class restaurants and brilliant weather conditions.
Dining and Nightlife Part one of an eight part series that will give prospective families an idea about what life on the Eastern Seaboard of Thailand is all about. Each entry also comes with a comment from a respected long-serving member of the community. The Pattaya, Rayong and Chonburi area has many faces. There are incredible beaches, great food and some of the best resorts in Thailand. If variety is the spice of life, then Pattaya certainly has something to suit the most eclectic of tastes and budgets. From bargain baht-buster British breakfasts to the finest of Thai, Oriental and Western cuisines, you could dine out somewhere different every day for a year, and still be spoilt for new choices. Better still, restaurants are not concentrated in a single central zone, but scattered throughout town and its quieter residential areas. If you fancy yourself a bit of a Gordon Ramsay - markets with fresh produce flourish everywhere.”

“I chose Pattaya to raise my young daughter, having lived elsewhere in Thailand, both because I feel very safe here, and because it offers the best of East and West, in education, healthcare, entertainment and eating out. Pattaya is a cultural melting pot that can be whatever you want it to be.” - Peter Garwood (Thailand Wine and Dine)

The Pattaya, Rayong and Chonburi area has many faces. There are incredible beaches, great food and some of the best resorts in Thailand. It is no doubt that the Eastern Seaboard’s largest city (Pattaya) has its not-so-nice side, however, this pales in comparison to its proximity to the ocean, top-class restaurants and brilliant weather conditions.

The Eastern Seaboard has your dining experience covered. From street-food BBQ eateries to high-class restaurants serving the finest, freshest produce, you really are spoilt for choice. Pretty much every cuisine is catered for in one way or another; American ribs, Mexican salsa, Indian curry’s and of course some of the cheapest and tastiest Thai food you will ever wrap your taste buds around, that is what is waiting for you in Pattaya’s eating establishments.

Perhaps the jewel in the crown however, is the abundance of seafood options. If you consider yourself a pescatarian, then consider this: Shrimp, prawns, oysters, crab and a plethora of different fish varieties cooked to perfection all for a fraction of the cost than you would pay at home.

Sticking to the more traditional and tasteful options for a night out is actually fairly easy, despite some reports you may read. Some great live bands perform almost nightly and cheap cocktails made with the freshest ingredients can be bought a-plenty.
