Fortunately, Pattaya has large expat community that has entrenched support systems, clubs and individuals that can help you settle in.
Pattaya City Expat Club has weekly meetings on Sundays usually with guest speakers. There is always a question and answer session which allows individuals to discuss things that concern them or that they need to know more about. Expat clubs are excellent places to make business connections as many of its members have been down the same path and have helpful knowledge that can help in future endeavors.
Pattaya’s friendly climate almost all-year-round makes it an excellent place to become involved in sporting pursuits. A fairly-priced membership will allow you to participate in a number of different sports such as cricket, golf, softball and fishing. Pattaya Sports club is an excellent way to make connections with like-minded individual, similar to home.
Many cities around the world have Rotary clubs and Pattaya is no different. A great place to get involved with fundraisers and events in your new adopted city, The Rotary club of Jomtien-Pattaya has a mix of Thai’s and expats from a range of different backgrounds. Anyone who has been involved in a Rotary or Lions club will tell you that they have made life-long connections as well as a difference to the community that they lived in.
Although the various Chambers of Commerce (British, German, and Australian) are largely based in Bangkok, it does have a presence in Pattaya. It is at least worth joining their mailing list and keeping an eye out for events in the area. It is a great chance to network and seek out other like-minded groups and individuals.
Of course the school community is an excellent way to meet other parents who have chosen to make Pattaya home. Quite regularly, Regents International School Pattaya will host coffee mornings for parents as well as inviting parents to partake in events around the school and greater Pattaya.
