Bookworm Caravan Foundation Bookworm Caravan Foundation founder, Yoshimi, spent some time with our Primary and Secondary students earlier this month.

Bookworm Caravan Foundation founder, Yoshimi, spent some time with our Primary and Secondary students earlier this month. She showed students how blind children can read books and brought a selection of braille picture books for the children to try and recognise patterns with their hands.

Founder of the Bookworm Caravan Foundation, Yoshimi Horiuchi, spent time with our Primary and Secondary students. BCF is the Community Partner for our Year 6 group.

She shared how her foundation helps to provide equal reading opportunities for children from various backgrounds. As Yoshimi is blind, she has also been teaching the students the basics of reading and writing braille. The students were very intrigued and enjoyed having a go at reading braille books themselves.

The BCF is just one of many community partners that we and our students actively support.

The BCF is a non-profit charity that promotes reading for pleasure, provides equal reading opportunities for children from various backgrounds, and utilises books as a bridge between vulnerable groups and mainstream society.
