Different artists influenced my pieces throughout the course. The media which I choose to use are mostly acrylic, oil and water color. Animals in different culture have different meanings, same as flowers. In order to do each of the piece, I planned and came up with different ideas. For example, sketch or a draft of each piece; in the same way, in some piece I also include photos as well. Every piece was inspired by different artist, I included the artist’s style with my style.
There are two pieces which is a dog and flower piece, also a horse. I got inspired by Thai artist
which is Ekasit Jirattikanon. Jiratiikanon influenced both of my pieces because, most of his piece are mostly animals and nature. However, he combined them together to create fantasy and imagination. The color he chooses are in the theme of “cold” color and he uses oil on canvas. Jiratiikanon showed clear contrast of light and dark color. For example the horse piece, I included Thai pattern and the main color of the piece is red which shows how strong the horse in. In contrast, the dog and flower piece show that the main color is pastels color. This is because, I wanted to do opposite with Jirattikanon. Jiratiikanon wanted to reflect how greedy humans. Whereas, I wanted to show the viewers how beautiful animals and nature is.
Next piece is the beetle and flowers which I got inspired by Portuguese artist, Duarte Vitoria. She uses the color of pale and she explores about human figures. On the flower piece, I used the same color scheme as Vitoria piece, which the main color of the piece are mostly pink and purple. Similarly, on the beetle piece I use oil on canvas same as Vitoria. In the same way, I showed brushstrokes and I plain background like Vitoria; this is to push the beetle to stands out and draws attention to them.
I enjoyed working with my subject of nature and animals, the style I used are varied and the use of materials are different. I tried to use bright colors and different scales to grab the audience attention. In all of my pieces, I wanted to make the viewers to possibly make them see animals a different way. In the same way, when they first saw my piece, I wanted them to think of happiness and cheerful. But also appreciate how beautiful animals and nature is. Most of my work are bright colors and I wanted the viewers to feel relief or relax and also enjoy looking at my work. My piece are meant for mostly young children and teenagers. I wanted my pieces to inspired them and I don't want my viewers to think that my pieces are fierce or scary.
