During the week, classes will participate in special activities to give students a greater understanding of other cultures and traditions. Reception to Year 6 classes will focus on particular countries, while other activities include students in Year 5 reading in their native languages to younger children, as well as the Year 9 German students teaching a German class in Reception. Keep your eye out as well for The International Daily, a news bulletin of events which will be compiled by students from the Journalism CCA and posted daily on the weblog.
The week culminates on Friday in the much anticipated International Food Fair and Parade of Nations. Students are encouraged to dress for the day in their national costumes or dress and will be treated to a wonderful smorgasbord of culinary delights from around the world, lovingly prepared and presented by Community Group volunteers and parents.
The Parade of Nations is quite a spectacle; this year some 57 countries are represented in our school and students have the chance to march with their nations. Under the baton of our Head of Music, Mr Russell Seaton, the students will conclude events with a whole-school song.
